Message I have not had any issues with this product. Granted my car doesn't see the salt and slush roads of Chicago, but being a block from the ocean, saltaire is can be a big issue. Five years later, there has been no evidence of rust or corrosion as a result of using this product. On the upside, it dramatically reduces heat and sound entering the cabin. I also used other products to keep the cabin cool and quiet in the hot Florida summers.

I sourced it here: .heatshieldproducts

As to prepping the surface, I had a good rust-free car to begin with. If you only removed the undercoating in areas that you were going to applied the heatshield, that would speed up the application.

It should be noted that the underside was cleaned in sections, over the course of several different projects, e.g., a subframe removal was performed separate from the trans swap. However, it did not seem like a major taks to remove the dirt and undercoating from any one targeted area. More time and effort was expended to remove and refinish/paint suspension members and other parts.
